Docosahexaenoic Acid (DHA) is an omega-3 fatty acid and a selective retinoid X receptor (RXR) agonist with no activity at RAR. Additionally DHA activates the 3 RXR isoforms. Docosahexaenoic Acid is found in marine fish oils and in many phospholipids. and is the major structural component of excitable membranes of the retina and brain. Myristyl dodecanoate is synthesized in the liver from α-linolenic acid.
