Overview

It turns pale purple when exposed to sodium hydroxide and brown solution in sulfuric acid. Soluble in ethanol and water. The maximum absorption wavelength is 518nm. Irritating. There are also references that this product is Neutral red. Colour Index Number 60760 solubility in water: 1 g/l (25 c).

Nuclear staining of connective tissue. Reagent for determination of calcium in serum.
