Overview
Soil proteases participate in the transformation of amino acids, proteins, and other organic compounds containing proteinaceous nitrogen present in the soil. Their hydrolysis products serve as a source of nitrogen for higher plants. Soil acid protease catalyzes the hydrolysis of proteins under acidic conditions and is associated with soil organic matter content, nitrogen levels, and other soil characteristics. This assay kit is suitable for detecting soil samples. Under acidic conditions, soil acid protease hydrolyzes casein to produce tyrosine; under alkaline conditions, tyrosine reduces the phosphomolybdic acid compound to form tungsten blue, which has a characteristic absorption peak at 680 nm.
