Overview
Silicon is a vital nutrient element for plants. The content of available silicon in the soil influences plant photosynthesis, respiration, and resistance to environmental stress. This product is designed for testing soil samples. In this assay kit, silicate ions react with ammonium molybdate under weak acid conditions, forming siliconolybdic acid. This complex can then be reduced by a reducing agent to form siliconolybdenum blue, which has a characteristic absorption peak at 700 nm. By measuring the absorbance change at 700 nm, the available silicon content in the soil can be calculated.
