Overview

Slightly hygroscopic, soluble in water, but gradually decomposes with increasing temperature. Easy to dissolve in various organic solvents such as ethanol, ether, acetone, esters, benzene, aliphatic hydrocarbons, aromatic hydrocarbons, and chlorinated hydrocarbons. Has a mild odor. It is very stable at room temperature and extremely difficult to burn. It is stimulating. High boiling point solvent, catalyst for vinyl ketone production, ethylation reagent, solvent for nitrocellulose and cellulose acetate.
