Descripción general

Un agente antifúngico y antimicrobiano. En un estudio, el 2,3-dihidroxibenzaldehído se identificó como un potente agente quimiosensibilizante dirigido contra la pared celular. Además, otro estudio confirmó que el 2,3-dihidroxibenzaldehído interrumpía la vía MAPK a través del gen SOD2. El mismo estudio también descubrió que, cuando se utilizaba con otros agentes antifúngicos como el fludioxonil, impedía que los mutantes fúngicos desarrollaran tolerancia al fludioxonil. También se descubrió su utilidad en la síntesis de resinas Amberlite XAD que pueden utilizarse para preconcentrar metales de muestras de suelo.
