Tissue fixative consists of 10%–15% formalin solution, 1%–5% phosphate buffer solution and purified water. It is used for the fixation of fresh tissue samples.
Test Principle:
Aldehydes act as cross-linking tissue fixatives. They achieve fixation mainly by inducing cross-linking between protein molecules. This product is adjusted to a neutral pH with phosphate buffer, which maximally preserves tissue antigens. It delivers better fixation performance and superior retention of tissue antigenicity compared with ordinary formaldehyde solutions, and is a commonly used fixative for biological tissues.
Instructions for Use:
1. Open the container cap and immerse biological tissue specimens into 10% neutral buffered formalin fixative.
2. The volume of fixative shall be 5 to 10 times that of the specimen. Place excised tissues into the fixative promptly (within 3 minutes). The fixation time ranges from 2 to 12 hours.
3. Tighten the container cap immediately, label the specimen with relevant information, and send it to the pathology department for examination.
Precautions:
1. Use the product in a well-ventilated area.
2. For single use only. Do not mix fresh and used fixative.
3. Avoid contact with skin and mucous membranes during operation.
4. Intended solely for pre-treatment of specimens.
5. This reagent is for professional use only. Read the instructions carefully before use, employ the product within its shelf life, and take proper personal protective measures.
6. Dispose of used fixative in accordance with the waste management regulations of the pathology laboratory.
7. Storage: Store at 4 °C to 40 °C in a cool, dry and well-ventilated place. Keep away from heat sources, sparks and open flames. Handle with care during transportation to avoid extrusion. Use up the product within 3 months after opening. Tighten the cap immediately after each use to prevent volatilization and deterioration.
