Overview
3,5-DiBr-PAESA is an excellent colorimetric reagent for the detection of Ag(I) and Cu(II). The maximum absorption wavelength and molar absorptivity of its complex with Ag(I) are 618 nm and 80,000, respectively, while those of its complex with Cu(II) are 639 nm and 1.34×10⁵. In the presence of anionic surfactants such as sodium dodecyl sulfate, the maximum absorption wavelength of the complex undergoes a red shift, accompanied by an increase in molar absorptivity.
