CENPU plays a central role in kinetochore assembly, mitotic progression, and chromosome segregation. Its amino acid region 147-418 is likely to contain coiled-coil domains or other protein-protein interaction interfaces. Such domains tend to form dimers or multimers when expressed in prokaryotic systems (Uniprot ID: Q71F23).
