Animal model of tibial metaphyseal osteotomy lengthening

Summary

Inequality of limb length, especially in the lower limbs, is a common orthopedic clinical disorder that seriously affects patients' life, work and study. The main causes of limb length discrepancy are chronic osteomyelitis, epiphyseal injury, poliomyelitis, etc. The main causes of limb length discrepancy are chronic osteomyelitis, epiphyseal injury, and poliomyelitis.

Principle

The basic principle of [Tibial metaphyseal osteotomy lengthening animal model]: Under the stimulation of slow and gradual traction, the bone scabs, blood vessels, nerves and other soft tissues in the lengthening area will grow and lengthen with the continuation of traction, and the lengthening area will be completely repaired in the end. Among the long bones of the lower limb, the femur and tibia are often used as modeling sites, and the external fixation used is either half-ring groove type or unilateral type, the former is commonly used for the tibia, and the latter is mostly used for the femur. The tibial metaphysis is often used as the osteotomy plane.

Materials and Instruments

Equipment:
①Adult healthy green goat
② New Zealand Large White Rabbit
③ Kirschner's needle
④ half-ring groove external fixation frame designed by Li Qihong
Reagents:
① Quick sleep new Ⅱ injection (0.06 ml/kg)
② 3% sodium pentobarbital at the rate of 1.5 mg/kg.

Move

The modeling method of tibial metaphyseal osteotomy lengthening can be divided into the following steps:
1 . Go at
A. Adult healthy green goats were selected. Anesthesia was provided by intramuscular injection of 0.06 ml/kg.
B. Under aseptic conditions, a straight incision was made in the anterolateral 4 cm of the upper tibia, the periosteum was incised longitudinally, and the periosteum was peeled off with a periosteal dissector in a circular motion.
C. The tibia was transversely truncated at a distance of 2-2.5 cm from the tibial plateau.
D

. One set of two sets of 2.0 mm Crossed Cripp's needles were threaded proximal to and distal from the truncation plane, and one set of three Cripp's needles was inserted proximally and one set

1 cm away from the truncation plane.

D. One and two sets of 2.0 mm cross pins are inserted proximal and distal to the plane of osteotomy.

E. Distally, each group has 2 Clipper pins, the upper group is about 2 cm away from the osteotomy plane, and the lower group is in the middle and lower third of the tibia, and the angle between the pins is 25°~45°.

F. Suture the periosteum and the incision, sterile dressing, and fixation with a half-ring groove external fixation bracket designed by Li Qi-hong.
G. Postoperative X-ray of the whole length of the tibia was taken to check the osteotomy site and osteotomy alignment, and was repeated periodically during the lengthening process to check the lengthening. X-rays were taken after the operation to check the tibial osteotomy site and the alignment of the osteotomy end, and the X-rays were reviewed periodically during the lengthening process to check the lengthening status.
2 . Rabbits
A. The bone lengthening device used in this model was a scaled-down version of the half-ring grooved external fixator designed by Li Qihong, and the ring of the reduced bone lengthening device had an outer diameter of 55 mm and an inner diameter of 38 mm, with a screw with an outer diameter of 3.5 mm and a screw pitch of 1 mm in 2 turns, that is, the limb was lengthened by 0.5 mm for each turn of the screw.
B. In New Zealand large white rabbits, the limbs of the tibial bones were fixed with no preoperative food and water, and 3 B. New Zealand white rabbits were anesthetized with 3% sodium pentobarbital at 1 ml/kg.
C. Surgical operations were performed as before.
D. Postoperative antibiotics were administered intramuscularly to prevent infection.
