Principle
Specific spin is one of the characteristic constants of a substance, and the measurement of spin can be used to check the purity and content of a spinning substance.
Materials and Instruments

2. Correction of the zero point of the rotameter: Before measuring the sample, it is necessary to correct the zero point of the rotameter.
(1) wash the sample tube, hold the tube in the left hand to stand it upright, loaded with distilled water, so that the liquid surface protrudes from the mouth.
(2) The glass cap along the edge of the mouth of the tube gently pushed flat cover, can not bring in air bubbles, screw on the screw cap cover, leakage, do not over-tighten.
(3) Wipe the sample tube dry, put it into the rotameter covered with a lid,,, the standard sky disk adjusted to about zero, rotate the rough and micro hand wheel, so that the field of view within the Ⅰ and Ⅱ part of the brightness of the field of view of the same, note down the readings.
(4) Repeat the operation at least 5 times, take the average value, if the zero point is too big difference, the instrument should be recalibrated.
3. Determination of spin: accurately weigh 0.1-0.5g of sample (such as glucose) into a certain concentration of solution, according to the above method to determine its spin, the difference between the reading and the zero point is the spin of the substance.
