Overview

5-TAMRA maleimide is an orange-fluorescent, single isomer, thiol-reactive dye for synthesis of orange fluorescent biomolecules. The maleimide group is selective for reaction with thiol groups on peptides, proteins, and other thiol-containing biomolecules when reacted at pH below 7.5. 5-TAMRA maleimide, sometimes also referred to as TMRM, has been used for investigations of conformational changes in voltage sensitive domains of ion channels by site directed fluorescent labeling. Conjugates of 5-TAMRA maleimide are excited near 541 nm with fluorescence emission near 567 nm and are relatively photostable and insensitive to changes in pH. 5-TAMRA maleimide is a purified single isomer label that is suitable for preparing conjugates that are purified by capillary electrophoresis or ion-exchange chromatography. Note
Wherever possible, you should prepare and use solutions on the same day. However, if you need to make up stock solutions in advance, we recommend that you store the solution as aliquots in tightly sealed vials at -20°C. Generally, these will be useable for up to one month. Before use, and prior to opening the vial we recommend that you allow your product to equilibrate to room temperature for at least 1 hour.
