Electrophoretic separation of proteins
Electrophoretic separation of proteins
Summary
Proteins are amphoteric electrolytes and exhibit charged properties in solutions above or below the isoelectric point. These charged proteins migrate by swimming under the force of a DC electric field. The technique of separating proteins by utilizing their swimming speed in an electric field is called electrophoresis (electrophoresis). Currently, there are three main methods used to separate proteins by electrophoresis: polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis, isoelectric point focusing electrophoresis, and bidirectional polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis.
Principle
The basic principle of electrophoretic separation of proteins is a technique that utilizes the swimming speed of proteins in an electric field to separate proteins. Proteins are amphoteric electrolytes and exhibit charged properties in solutions above or below the isoelectric point. Under the action of DC electric field force, these charged proteins will undergo swimming migration.
Appliance
