1. Dyeing method Applies to small animals such as rabbits, rats, mice, etc. This method involves applying chemicals to the coat of the animal to distinguish the animal by different colors. The commonly used chemicals are: 3% ~ 5% Picric acid solution (yellow color) 0.5% Neutral magenta (red) 2% silver nitrate (coffee color) silver nitrate (coffee color). The principle of labeling is: first left, then right, from top to bottom. If the animal number is a two-digit or three-digit number, then two or three different colors are used accordingly, with different colors representing different digits (single digit, ten digits, hundred digits), and the principle of marking is the same as the above (Figure). 1 ).

2. Hanging method Often used for large animals. A metal tag with a number is hung around the animal's neck to distinguish the animal. For monkeys, dogs, cats and other animals sometimes do not mark, just record their appearance and fur color.

3. Cage number Marked on the cage.

The above are just a few of the simplest methods, which can be used flexibly.
