Tail tip clipping blood test in rats and mice

Summary

The animal was first immobilized, and the tail was disinfected with an alcohol cotton ball, and then the vein aimed at the tip of the tail a few centimeters upward was punctured with a hypodermic needle and then immediately withdrawn. After blood collection, hemostasis was carried out by local compression and cauterization.

Move

After the animal was immobilized or anesthetized, the rat's tail was exposed, and the tail was placed on the 45 ℃~ 50 ℃ hot water for a few minutes to dilate the blood vessels. After drying the rat's tail, the tip of the tail was cut off 1 ~2mm 2mm (mice) or 5mm (rat). Massage from the root to the tip of the tail, and blood will flow out of the severed end.
