Varicocele is a dilated and tortuous trailing venous plexus with many sinusoids formed due to obstruction of reflux in the veins of the spermatic cord or reflux of blood due to failure of the venous valves. A variety of animal models of varicocele can be used in the preparation of varicocele models, with rats and dogs being the most common.

Reagents:

B. The left renal vein was isolated by a mid-abdominal incision, and a metal rod with a diameter of about 0.55 mm was placed on the medial side of the left adrenal vein and spermatic vein, and lateral side of the inferior vena cava to be ligated along with the left renal vein, which reduces the diameter of the left renal vein by about one half.
C. The metal rod was pulled out after the ligation. The left renal vein of rats was rapidly dilated after ligation.
D. The same procedure was performed to expose the left renal vein without ligation as a control.
