Serum Preparation Experiment

Summary

Antisera are sera containing a certain class of antibody molecules with specific immune functions, generally prepared from animals that have been artificially injected with a certain type of antigen. Highly effective antisera are used in research as well as in the diagnosis and treatment of disease.

Materials and Instruments

Blood
Cryogenic centrifuge 4 ℃ refrigerator Test tubes -80 ℃ low temperature storage box

Move

1. After blood collection, allow blood to clot for 1 to 2 hours at 37°C (without anticoagulant);
2. Refrigerate at 4°C overnight (to allow the clot to solidify);
3. When the serum precipitates naturally, centrifuge the serum at 3000 rpm for 10 minutes at 4°C. Separate the serum and discard the insoluble material;
4. Transfer the serum to a clean test tube and divide into small portions for storage at -80°C.
