Overview
Acetyl-CoA Carboxylase (ACC) catalyzes the carboxylation of acetyl-CoA to malonyl-CoA in living organisms and serves as a key enzyme in the synthesis of fatty acids and many secondary metabolites. The activity of ACC determines, to a certain extent, the rate of fatty acid synthesis and the level of oil content. In this assay kit, ACC catalyzes the conversion of acetyl-CoA, NaHCO₃, and ATP into malonyl-CoA, ADP, and inorganic phosphate. The ACC activity is determined by measuring the increase in inorganic phosphate using the ammonium molybdate method for phosphorus determination.
