Summary

Source of content: general zoology lab guide.

Operation method

Observational experiments on mussel, snail and squid slices

Principle

1. to understand the general structure and characteristics of the mollusc phylum Valvularia by observing the external and internal anatomy of mussels. 2. to understand the general structure and characteristics of the mollusc phylum Gastropoda by observing the external and internal anatomy of snails. 3. to understand the general structure and characteristics of the mollusc phylum Cephalopoda by observing the external and internal anatomy of the squid.

Materials and Instruments

Mussels sliced, snails sliced, squid sliced.

Move

1. Observation of external morphology and internal anatomy of mussels; observation of immersed specimens of arkshells, oysters, mussels, scallops, pearl oysters and tragopan mussels.
2. observation of external morphology and internal anatomy of live snails; observation of macerated specimens of taro snails, slugs, snails, nails snails, vertebrate snails.
3. observation of squid immersion specimens.
4. instruction: mussel gill slides, observation of hooked larvae mounts.

Common Problems
