Extraction and activity of ATPase from cardiac myofibrillar fibers
·Reviewed·Published ·Updated ·8 min read
Summary
Cardiac myofibrillar ATPase is Ca2+, Mg2+ ATPase, which breaks down ATP into ADP and Pi and releases energy to provide myofibrillar contraction needs. Myofibrils were extracted by Salaro and Pagani method, mainly by differential centrifugation and Triton X-100 stripping. The enzyme activity was determined in much the same way as that of the myoplasmic reticulum Ca2+ATPase.
