Wastewater Turbidity Measurement Experiment
Wastewater Turbidity Measurement Experiment
Turbidity (Turbidity) is caused by the presence of sediment, clay, organic matter, inorganic matter, plankton and microorganisms and other suspended substances in the water, which can scatter or absorb light and prevent light from penetrating through, belonging to the indicators of sensory properties. Natural water is coagulated, precipitated and filtered to make the water clear. Determination of turbidity methods are spectrophotometric, visual turbidity method, turbidimeter method.
Operation method
turbidimetry
Principle
An infrared beam is passed through the cuvette containing the sample to be measured. The light source is a high intensity infrared tube with a wavelength of 890 nm to ensure that interference caused by the color of the sample is minimized. The amount of light scattered by suspended particles in the sample is measured by a sensor and converted into a turbidity value by a microcomputer processor.
Materials and Instruments
Water Sample Move I. Calibration instruments Plug in the power supply, press the ON/OFF key to open the turbidimeter power supply → first hold down the Alt key, and then press the CAL key to make the instrument enter the zero state → "0" sample into the dark hole, press the CAL key → to be displayed when the value of "10", remove the Put the "0" specimen into the dark hole, press CAL key → When the value "500" is displayed, take out the "10" specimen and put the "10" specimen into the dark hole. When the value "500" is displayed, take out the "10" specimen, put the "500" specimen into the dark hole, press CAL key → after the value is stabilized, press and hold the Alt key first, then press CAL to end the zero adjustment.II. Determination of turbidity of water samples Load the sample to be measured into the colorimetric tube → put into the dark hole → press Read button to read the value → press Store button to save the data after the value is stable → put the sample to be measured sequentially. Caveat 1. In order to obtain a representative water sample, the water sample should be gently stirred to homogenize the sample prior to sampling, and shaking (to prevent air bubbles) and sedimentation of suspended material should be prohibited. 2. Samples are collected in stoppered glass vials and should be measured as soon as possible after sampling. If storage is required, it can be refrigerated at 4℃ and kept in the dark for 24 h. The water sample should be shaken vigorously and returned to room temperature before testing. For more product details, please visit Aladdin Scientific website.
