Protective effect of drugs against local anesthetic poisoning

Summary

Observation of the protective effect of different drugs against procaine poisoning.

Operation method

intraperitoneal injection

Principle

Procaine belongs to the short-acting ester local anesthetic, toxicity is small, but improper use will also produce toxic reactions, some drugs can rescue the toxic reaction of procaine, some drugs and even aggravate its toxic reaction, so the clinical use of drugs should pay attention to avoid the occurrence of toxicity, once poisoning occurs, should be immediately selected to appropriate antidote drugs to rescue.

Materials and Instruments

Mice.
Pentobarbital sodium; chlorpromazine; diazepam; sodium hydroxybutyrate; procaine; saline
Syringe

Move

1. 10 healthy mice, weighing 18~22 g, were taken and observed for their normal activities.

2. Randomly divide the mice into 5 groups of 2 mice each and inject 0.05% sodium pentobarbital, 0.05% chlorpromazine, 0.05% chlorpromazine, 0.05% chlorpromazine, 0.05% chlorpromazine, 0.05% chlorpromazine, 0.05% chlorpromazine and 0.05% chlorpromazine intraperitoneally. 0.05% Chlorpromazine. 0.05% Diazepam. 0.05% diazepam. 2% sodium hydroxybutyrate and saline were injected intraperitoneally at a volume of 0.1 ml/10 g. Each group of mice was randomly divided into 5 groups of 2 mice each.

3. 2% procaine 0.08 ml/10 g was injected intraperitoneally after 15 min, and the mice were observed and compared with the pre-administration conditions.

4. Observe whether the mice in each group showed convulsions and death, which were recorded in the following table.

Group ip procaine time Appearance of alarm
Time to convulsion
Latency to convulsion
(min)
Time to death (min) Death rate (%)
Pentobarbital sodium group
Chlorpromazine group
Diazepam group
Sodium hydroxybutyrate group
Saline group

Caveat

Due to the small number of mice in each group, the whole laboratory results should be combined for statistical analysis.
