Peptide Basics

A peptide is formed by sequential linkage of α-amino acids via peptide bonds and can be regarded as an intermediate in protein hydrolysis. Its building blocks are amino-acid residues with different side chains; therefore, a peptide is not a homopolymer in the traditional sense.
