Protein Function
Probable catalytic subunit of a GTPase activating protein that has specificity for Rab3 subfamily (RAB3A, RAB3B, RAB3C and RAB3D). Rab3 proteins are involved in regulated exocytosis of neurotransmitters and hormones. Specifically converts active Rab3-GTP to the inactive form Rab3-GDP. Required for normal eye and brain development. May participate in neurodevelopmental processes such as proliferation, migration and differentiation before synapse formation, and non-synaptic vesicular release of neurotransmitters.

Immunohistochemical analysis of RAB3GAP1 staining in human testis formalin fixed paraffin embedded tissue section. The section was pre-treated using heat mediated antigen retrieval with sodium citrate buffer (pH 6.0). The section was then incubated with RAB3GAP1 Antibody (Ab124213) at room temperature and detected using an HRP conjugated compact polymer system. DAB was used as the chromogen. The section was then counterstained with haematoxylin and mounted with DPX.

IF analysis of RAB3GAP1 Antibody (Ab124213) in HeLa cells. The cells were fixed and permeabilized with 100% methanol for 5 minutes, and blocked with 5% BSA for 1 hour at room temperature. Cells were stained with RAB3GAP1 Antibody (Ab124213) at 1/50 dilution in blocking buffer overnight at 4°C, and then incubated with Goat Anti-Rabbit IgG H&L (AF647) (Ab181958) at a dilution of 1/1000 for 1 hour at room temperature in the dark (red). Cells were counterstained with DAPI (blue).
