Operation method

Experiment on the preparation of glycerite lotion

Principle

A suspension is a non-homogeneous liquid agent formed by dispersing a difficult-to-solve solid drug in a liquid medium with fine particles. The dispersed phase has a mass point greater than 0.5 μm, generally below 10 μm. The dispersion medium of the suspension is mostly water, and some also use vegetable oil. Suspension unstable mainly manifested in the settlement of particles, usually through the reduction of particle size and the addition of co-suspension agent to slow down the rate of particle settlement, thereby increasing the stability of the suspension. In addition, the addition of surfactant as a wetting agent can reduce the surface tension between solid and liquid to prevent the aggregation of particles. The main methods of preparation of suspensions are dispersion method and coagulation method.
