Animal models of infection and intervention in intravenous cannulae

Summary

Infectious diseases are one of the most important diseases in the neonatal period and the main cause of neonatal death. At present, the incidence and death rate of infectious diseases in China account for the first place of neonatal diseases. With the widespread use of biomaterials in clinical practice, infections centered on biomaterials have become a common and troublesome hospital-acquired infection. At present, the most common animal models of intravenous cannulation infection are jugular vein cannulation and femoral vein cannulation, and the commonly used experimental animals are rabbits.

Appliance

The model can be used to test whether antibiotics have a clearance effect on bacterial biofilms under in vivo conditions and the clearance efficiency. It provides new ideas for clinical treatment of bacterial biofilms and bacterial drug resistance.

Operation method

Establishment of an animal model of intravenous cannula infection by the intravenous cannula method

Materials and Instruments

Animal models:
Domestic free (male and female are not limited).
Equipment:
One set of routine surgical instruments, catheters, disposable infusion set, heparin cap.
Reagents:
① bacterial strains;
② culture medium;
③ Anesthetic (chloral hydrate);
④ Sterile saline.

Move

The modeling method for establishing an animal model of venous cannulation infection is divided into two categories according to the site, and the specific steps are as follows:

(I) Jugular vein cannulation

A

, incise the skin of the neck in the middle of the neck, and see the external jugular vein under the skin of the neck, at the outer edge of the sternomastoid muscle.

B. Separate the vein along the vascular course, make a cut near the distal end, and insert the catheter.

(B) Femoral vein catheterization

A

. Make an oblique incision in the groin and at the femoral artery pulsation to incise the skin, separate the obliquus abdominis muscle layer by layer, and free the femoral vein accompanying the femoral artery.

B, A cut is made near the distal end and the catheter is inserted.
