A larger amount of blood can be taken by this method. The dog is first anesthetized and immobilized, and while immobilized the neck is tilted back as far as possible, and the assistant presses the skin of the jugular vein into the chest with his hand, so as to make the vein angry. The operator uses the left hand to tense the skin at the site of the needle, and the right hand takes the syringe and stabs along the blood vessel toward the cardiac end. Care should be taken to stop bleeding after blood collection.
