Overview
Cytoplasmic Isocitrate Dehydrogenase (ICDHc) (EC 1.1.1.42) is widely present in animals, plants, microorganisms, and cultured cells. It catalyzes the oxidative decarboxylation of isocitrate to α-ketoglutarate, simultaneously reducing NADP⁺ to NADPH. ICDHc represents another crucial source of NADPH in the cytoplasm besides the pentose phosphate pathway, and its activity typically undergoes significant changes under stress conditions.
The detection principle of this kit is based on the ICDHc-catalyzed reaction that reduces NADP⁺ to NADPH. The increase in NADPH concentration is determined by measuring the absorbance at 340 nm.
