Identification of tannins

Summary

Tannins, also known as tannins, are a class of complex polyphenolic compounds found in plants. Tannins can be combined with proteins to form an insoluble precipitate, so it can be used to tanning, that is, combined with the proteins in the hides, so that the skin becomes dense, pliable, difficult to penetrate water and not easy to rot the leather, so it is called tannin. Tannin is yellow or brownish-yellow amorphous loose powder; in the air the color gradually darkens; strong hygroscopicity.
