Oxidoreductases are a class of enzymes that catalyze the transfer of electrons from one molecule, the reductant (electron donor), to another, the oxidant (electron acceptor), in a redox reaction. This group of enzymes usually utilizes NADP+ or NAD+ as cofactors. Oxidoreductases are involved in a wide range of biological processes, including cellular respiration, photosynthesis, and metabolism. They are also used in industrial processes such as fermentation and biofuel production.
